With self injury awareness day on Sunday 1st March, the no secrets group have booked the drop in lounge at the Millennium Centre on Bickerstaffe Street to do a drop in. There’ll be information and leaflets about various services related to self harm.

The group say Self-injury is still very misunderstood. We want to help people to understand it more, be less afraid of it, and less judgemental.

Do pop by and show your support. They’ll be there from 10-1.

Thank you to the people who attended our meeting on tuesday. We’re not sure why many familiar faces weren’t there – was it the change of venue? didn’t you get the mailout in time? was it just half term hibernation? Hopefully we’ll find out in the days ahead.

People who were there heard about the background to the national project called ‘time to change’. This campaign aims to reduce the stigma and discrimination around mental health problems. (more…)

These are the notes of our meeting in November. Comments in italics are from our members.

Collette Walsh had come to find out our views on the project to develop a single point of access to mental health services. We all want to stay healthy or , if we are unwell, to catch it early before everything deteriorates. They understand that mental ill health is not just about illness – it is also about family breakdowns, debt, housing etc. Many things make people ill. (more…)
