Archive for September, 2011

We had a brief update from everyone:

  • Together held their sponsored walk in support of the Oasis group – thank you to everyone for sponsoring.
  • Mind allotment is going well with everyone preparing for winter
  • Mind are holding a ‘feel good’ day at Heath Park Lodge on Wednesday 12th October, 11-3pm. There will be information from many organizations involved in mental health including Stop Hate UK, No Secrets, Platform 51, Alzheimers Society, Open Mind and many more.
  • Members are concerned about changes to services and worry if this includes any cuts to care coordinator posts. Historically, people have felt that they haven’t been given good reasons when they are not allocated a care coordinator.
  • State of mind events are going well – thank you to all volunteers who are giving up their Saturdays.
  • Briars Hey, Rainhill – Raphael Healthcare have submitted an application to the Council for planning permission for a new facility for people experiencing eating disorders.
  • Crisis Services – Scrutiny report – We have had no further updates from either 5 Boroughs or the Council.
  • Consultations – mental health services – Both 5 Boroughs and the PCT will be consulting about mental health services in St Helens. At the time of writing, we don’t have any details about when 5 Borough’s consultation will take place.
  • St Helens Mental Health Partnership Board – Our representatives were unable, at short notice and for personal reasons, to attend the meeting on 14th September. The next meeting is on 19th October.
  • We are worried that some of our projects are getting cancelled because our volunteers are overstretched. Other groups are having similar problems. If you can help with any of our activities, please do get in touch.
